Double-fatal Antioch bowling shooting started as attempted robbery, police say

( KRON ) — The Antioch Police Department said Thursday that a shooting that left two people dead outside a local bowling alley started as an attempted robbery. Antonio Drake, 34, of Antioch and Deantray Reed, 35, of Oakley were both killed outside Delta Bowl on the night of Dec. 7.

“Antioch Police Department detectives believe the incident was an attempted robbery in which the suspect and victim exchanged gunfire, resulting in fatal injuries to both individuals,” APD said.

The shooting happened in the parking lot outside Delta Bowl, located at 3300 Delta Fair Blvd, at about 10:36 p.m.

The two people who died did not know each other before the shooting, police believe. APD did not say which party attempted to rob the other.

APD had previously said that one person approached the other while he was sitting in his car. A confrontation followed, which ended in fatal gunfire.

Police recovered both guns used. There are no outstanding suspects.
