(FOX40.COM) — An armed robbery at a Northern California movie theater is under investigation, according to the Folsom Police Department.

At around 9:15 p.m. on Sunday, a caller reported that a friend texted and said she had been robbed at gunpoint at the Palladio movie theater in Folsom. FPD responded to the scene with patrol rifles and secured the theater. Officers said it was unclear if the gunman was still in the area.

During the search for the armed suspect, officers said they asked theater employees to go outside. They also walked six patrons out to the lobby with their hands raised to ensure the suspect was not among the people in the theater. They later learned the suspect was gone.

The victim reportedly told police that the robber threatened her with a gun and claimed he had people watching her in the theater. She said he stole her car from the parking lot and she was afraid to leave and report the robbery until officers arrived.
