Woman arrested after 11-year-old boy found dead in Northern California RV park

A woman was arrested Sunday after deputies responding to a disturbance call found an 11-year-old boy dead at a rural Northern California RV park.

The Sutter County Sheriff’s Office said deputies were called about 10 a.m. Sunday for a disturbance call at the Lovey’s Landing RV Park north of Meridian, an outpost on the Sacramento River four miles southwest of Colusa and 17 miles west of Yuba City.

On scene, deputies found Meagan Ann Dixon, 44, “under the influence of narcotics, causing a disturbance.” Deputies then found the 11-year-old boy “deceased in a mobile travel trailer,” the Sheriff’s Office said.

Dixon was subsequently arrested on suspicion of homicide and child endangerment, though deputies did not disclose how Dixon and the boy were related.

Dixon was being housed in Sutter County Jail, the Sheriff’s Office said.

Deputies said Sutter detectives along with officials from the Sutter County District Attorney’s Office and the state Attorney General’s Office are investigating the boy’s death.
