It’s a good idea to throw on a warm extra layer over light layers, grab your sunglasses and make sure to secure loose items outside your home as you get ready to take on your Thursday. High pressure off the coast will build into northern California driving sunny skies, dry conditions, and a warmer afternoon across our region today. Low pressure to our southeast will continue to drive breezy to gusty north to northeast winds across the southwest today as well. Skies have stayed clear overnight, and we’ll have sunny skies overhead all day. Temperatures are ranging from the upper 30’s to lower 50’s across most of the valley this morning, but Redding has stayed in the lower 60’s due to the downslope north winds persisting overnight. We have 40’s to mid 50’s in the foothills, and teens to 20’s in our mountain zones early this morning. Winds will be out of the north to 20mph, and gusts up to 30mph will be possible in the valley. Sustained winds out of the northeast to 20mph, and gusts up to 50mph will be possible across the foothills and Sierra. The strongest gusts are projected to be in the Feather River Canyon today. High temperatures are projected to climb into the upper 60’s to lower 70’s in the valley, 50’s to mid 60’s in the foothills, and upper 40’s to upper 50’s in most mountain areas this afternoon.
