It’s a good idea to throw on light clothing, grab your sunglasses and pack some extra water as you get ready to head out the door Friday. A strong ridge of high pressure off the coast and an additional weaker ridge to our north will drive bright, dry and warmer conditions across northern California today. A cool and wet system will track into the Pacific Northwest on Saturday, and that will drive a drop in temperatures, cloudy skies, and scattered shower and thunderstorm chances across our region. We’ll then dry out and end up with gusty north winds and a warming trend from Sunday into early next week. Much hotter temperatures and sunny skies are expected next week.

Mostly sunny to partly cloudy skies and dry conditions are expected today. Temperatures are in the 60’s in the valley, 50’s to low 60’s in the foothills and 40’s in our mountain zones Friday morning. North winds to 10mph and gusts up to around 20mph will be possible today. High temperatures will climb into the upper 80’s in the valley, 70’s to lower 80’s in the foothills and Northern Mountains, and 60’s to mid 70’s in most Sierra locations Friday afternoon.

We’ll have mostly sunny to partly cloudy skies over the valley, and partly to mostly cloudy skies over our higher elevations with scattered showers possible Saturday. The best chance for showers and thunderstorms will be in the foothills and Sierra, but sprinkles will be possible in the valley. Temperatures will start out in the upper 50’s to lower 60’s in the valley, 40’s to mid 50’s in the foothills and 40’s in most mountain areas Saturday morning. West winds to 15mph are expected, and northwest gusts up to 35mph will be possible from the late afternoon through evening hours Saturday. High temperatures are projected to top out in the upper 70’s to low 80’s in the valley, 60’s to lower 70’s in the foothills and Northern Mountains, and 60’s in the Sierra…
