Eureka, California – Marine conditions off Northern California will rapidly worsen Tuesday afternoon, with dangerous winds and steep waves expected to challenge vessels south of Cape Mendocino.
According to the National Weather Service in Eureka, northerly wind gusts will reach 35 to 40 knots by late Tuesday, accompanied by very steep waves building to 8 to 10 feet at 8-second intervals. Mariners are urged to avoid travel or delay plans, especially near Buoy 14 where gust probabilities exceed 90%.
