After a period of red flag warnings earlier this week, temperatures have finally dropped in Northern California, paving the way for fair conditions just in time for Memorial Day barbecues.
According to the National Weather Service’s May 23 forecast, cooler, breezy conditions are slated to take hold of the region before a “subtle warming trend” begins this Saturday, eventually leading to higher-than-normal temperatures at the end of the month.
Until then, beach conditions are expected to be less than ideal: A gale warning has been issued until 3 a.m. on Saturday, meaning that high winds are forecast to create dangerous marine conditions that could capsize or damage boats. Yesterday, the weather service also issued a notice declaring that the areas of the “higher terrain of the North Bay, the East Bay, and across Southern Monterey & San Benito Counties” face a slightly elevated risk of grass fires due to 25-to-35 mph gusts…
