Three new wolf packs confirmed in Northern California

CHICO, Calif. – The California Department of Fish and Wildlife has confirmed the presence of three new wolf packs in the state. This development adds to the growing wolf population across California.

The Tunnison Pack, located north of Susanville, consists of two wolves. One female wolf, LAS32F, was born to the Lassen Pack in 2022, and a male wolf, DIS04M, hails from Oregon. They began traveling together in October 2024.

North of Lassen Volcanic National Park, the Ash Pan Pack includes two wolves. One is a female wolf, WHA04F, from the Whaleback Pack. The origin and sex of the second wolf remain unknown. These wolves started traveling together in April 2024…
