Valley Springs, CA…On May 27, 2025, at approximately 8:30 AM, Calaveras County Sheriff’s Deputies were dispatched to a report of a shooting in the 2000 block of Hoffman Drive, Valley Springs, California.
Upon arrival, deputies were advised that a homeowner, Suspect Frank Anthony Moore, age 75 of Valley Springs, was dissatisfied with yard maintenance services provided by a worker, which led to a verbal dispute. The altercation escalated when the victim requested payment for his services. During the confrontation, suspect Moore reportedly retrieved a firearm from inside the residence and returned outside, discharging more than one round in the direction of the victim. The victim stated that one round came within approximately one foot of striking him. The victim was able to safely leave the area to call 911 and await the arrival of law enforcement personnel.
Detectives were called to the scene to assist with the investigation and help with the collection of evidence. Through investigative efforts, deputies identified that suspect Moore was prohibited from owning or possessing firearms. Based on the evidence collected during the investigation, Calaveras County Sheriff’s Detectives secured a search warrant for the residence from the Calaveras County Superior Court Judge. During the service of the warrant, deputies recovered two (2) 9mm handguns, one (1) .380 caliber pistol, ammunition matching both firearms, and shotgun ammunition. All firearms and ammunition were collected and booked into evidence.
