Around 1:26 p.m., the California Highway Patrol responded to a call about a crash between a train and an SUV on State Route 132, just west of Santa Fe Avenue. When emergency crews arrived at the scene, they said they found a stopped Amtrak passenger train and a fully engulfed Chevy SUV.

The driver of the SUV was pronounced dead at the scene, according to CHP. One passenger on the train was transported to a local area hospital with minor injuries.
CHP said the Chevy SUV was traveling eastbound on SR-132, toward a railroad crossing while the crossing arms, flashing red lights, and audible indicator were activated.
