Police chase in Northern California ends with 19-year-old man dead, another injured

Around 11:17 p.m. on June 20, the Lodi Police Department observed a vehicle that it said was driving recklessly and endangering the public in the area of S. Cherokee Lane and E. Vine Street. LPD said an officer in a marked police vehicle activated their emergency lights and sirens in an attempt to conduct a traffic stop on the vehicle.

According to LPD, the vehicle continued to drive recklessly and led the officer on a brief pursuit. The chase ended after the suspect crashed and rolled over on its roof as it entered southbound Highway 99 at the on-ramp at Cherokee Lane and Century Boulevard.

Police said there were two people in the vehicle. The driver, a 19-year-old man, was pronounced dead at the scene, according to LPD. The passenger was taken to a local hospital where they were treated for non-life-threatening injuries and released…
