Modesto Man Convicted for Illegal Firearm and Methamphetamine Possession Amidst Previous Violent Felony Record

A Modesto man was recently convicted on charges related to illegal possession of a firearm and ammunition, in addition to methamphetamine possession, according to a post by the Stanislaus County District Attorney’s Office.

Jose Angel Vasquez, age 39, was found guilty by a jury of being a felon in possession of ammunition and a firearm, a conviction that carries significant weight due to his prior serious violent felony record.

Law enforcement officers had responded to a disturbance call on December 27, 2024, where Vasquez reportedly made threats while brandishing a 9mm handgun; the same weapon was later located in some bushes near where he was detained and was identified as the one used in the said threats, according to the Stanislaus County District Attorney’s social media post…
