As Thanksgiving approaches, the Tracy Police Department is reminding drivers and passengers to wear seat belts on every trip. Officials note that the holiday is one of the busiest travel times of the year. They state that using seat belts is the most effective way to reduce injury in a crash.
According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, 309 people died in traffic accidents nationwide during the 2023 Thanksgiving holiday weekend. Of those, 44% were not wearing seat belts. These statistics highlight the need for seat belt use.
