Two die after car crashes and catches fire in Hickman, CHP says

Two people died early Tuesday after their car veered off Hickman Road, struck a concrete irrigation box and burst into flames, according to the California Highway Patrol.

CHP Modesto said officers were called around 12:30 a.m. to the crash just north of Cogswell Road. When emergency crews arrived, they found a 2012 Toyota sedan fully engulfed in flames with both passengers still inside. They died at the scene, CHP said.

According to investigators, the Toyota was traveling north when the driver veered off the east roadway edge. The front end struck a concrete irrigation box, and the vehicle immediately caught fire…
