Former Antioch officer sentenced to 7.5 years in federal prison

A former Antioch police officer, convicted of drug dealing and violent attacks that violated victims’ rights, was sentenced to 7½ years in federal prison Tuesday.

Devon Wenger, 33, was found guilty in separate trials this year of conspiring to distribute anabolic steroids and of conspiring with two other officers to use excessive force on people they suspected of crimes.

In one incident in 2019, prosecutors said, Wenger broke the arm of a woman suspected of shoplifting, then shoved the woman’s sister to the ground, picked her up and slammed her face into the window of a patrol car — and later said in his official report that the sister had pulled away from him and had fallen onto the car…
