The city of Antioch has agreed to major reforms to its police department to settle a civil rights lawsuit filed two years ago accusing dozens of officers of gross misconduct, according to attorney John Burris, who sued the department in 2023 on behalf of more than 20 people.
The lawsuit accused Antioch police officers of engaging in racial profiling and using excessive force, and came after a racist text messaging scandal rocked the department in 2022.
