37 years later, Stockton honors Cleveland Elementary victims with tree dedication

Five October Glory maple trees were planted at Oak Park in Stockton as a living memorial to the five children killed in the 1989 Cleveland Elementary School shooting.

Just before a tree dedication ceremony began on Saturday, Jan. 17, children played on a playground set a few feet from where the trees were planted.

The ceremony was held on the 37th anniversary of the school shooting in lieu of the annual vigils typically held around the city…
