A child and an adult are recovering in the hospital after being injured when a car smashed into two parked vehicles in front of a California elementary school.

At around 2:30 p.m. local time on Thursday, Jan. 22, a white sedan that was traveling at a high rate of speed on West Elm Street in Lodi, Calif., hit two vehicles that were parked in front of Erma B. Reese Elementary School, CBS News and Lodi News reported.

The force of the impact wedged the front of the car under the body of a pickup truck, according to the outlets.
