Modesto “Si Se Puede” luncheon moves forward despite Cesar Chavez allegations

(FOX40.COM) — A Cesar Chavez luncheon celebration in Modesto is still moving forward despite recent sexual abuse allegations that have surfaced against Chavez, who died in 1993.

Organizers with the Cesar Chavez Community Celebration Committee (CCCCC) said their annual “Si Se Puede” luncheon, scheduled for Monday, March 30, will continue as planned, even as other events elsewhere have been cancelled in response to the allegations.

CCCCC founder and treasurer Maggie Mejia said the organization is not focused on defending Chavez, but rather on continuing to uplift farmworkers and the issues they still face today…
