Camillus, N.Y. – It was one of those typical Syracuse days when it’s cool, then hot, then cool again. The Lewis family had the air conditioning on, and they were worried their pet tortoise, Chloe, might be chilled.
It was shady in their Camillus backyard along Turner Street so they put Chloe, a 6-year-old African leopard tortoise, on the front lawn to graze and bask in the sun.
They checked on her periodically. But as cars began to arrive and park on their street for a nearby soccer game, Brad and Raven Lewis worried Chloe might be scared…
