Micron to pay Clay $30 million to ease traffic, safety, other costs as construction begins

Clay, N.Y. — Micron Technology will pay $30 million to Clay to help cover traffic, safety and other impacts from its massive chip project, the acting town supervisor announced today.

The town would also create a new fee structure for any development projects of $100 million or more as the town prepares to become the home for the largest private development project in New York history.

The money pledged from Micron is part of a proposed “community host agreement” between the town and the company that would replace the traditional building permit fees developers typically pay, according to acting town Supervisor Joe Bick…
