SYRACUSE, N.Y. (WSYR-TV) — The father of the man who killed Onondaga County Sheriff’s Office Lt. Michael Hoosock and Syracuse police officer Michael Jensen learned his fate in court Tuesday for illegally possessing a weapon that was not used in that ambush.
Joseph Murphy stood before Onondaga County Judge Mary Anne Doherty on June 30. He previously admitted to illegally possessing a firearm that was similar to the one his son, Christopher Murphy, used during the shooting. The weapon Joseph Murphy was sentenced for wasn’t used when Jensen and Hoosock were killed in Salina in April 2024.
Murphy was sentenced to four months of jail on weekends, while also wearing an ankle monitor for 6 months. As a part of his sentence, he must arrive at 5 p.m. every Friday at the Jamesville Correctional Facility, and if he doesn’t do that each Friday, he could face more jail time…
