SYRACUSE, N.Y. — A working smoke detector helped a Durston Avenue resident escape safely early Wednesday morning after a fire broke out in the home’s attached garage, the Syracuse Fire Department said.
Firefighters responded to the fire at 453 Durston Ave. around 2:03 a.m. Crews from Station 9 arrived to find smoke coming from the attached garage of the single-story home.
