CLAY, N.Y. (WSYR) — Although the Micron construction project in Clay is only a few months old, the impact is already being felt economically.
Freight Yard Brewing has an obvious focus on brews. But the owners are already changing up their business model now that construction workers are in town due to Micron’s $100 billion undertaking to create a microchip manufacturing site in the town. Ground was broken for the first of four planned factories in January.
“We’ve noticed a little bit of a bump,” Lou Sotherden, co-owner of the brewery, said. “We’ve started doing lunches on Tuesdays and Fridays at 11 o’clock. So, we are definitely meeting folks who are working as contractors, just stopping in for lunch, a quick bathroom break, and some ice water.”…
