Suspected SUNY Morrisville shooter gets case adjourned 90 days

WAMPSVILLE, NY (WSYR-TV) — The 19-year-old accused of attempted murder on the SUNY Morrisville campus back in November 2025 appeared before a Madison County judge Thursday afternoon, July 16.

It was a short appearance in the courtroom for Kido Simon, with the defense team requesting a 90-day adjournment, which was approved by the judge. Today was “scheduled as a conference to see where we stood,” said Judge Hon. Michael St. Leger. All motions that were scheduled were deferred at this time, and Simon was escorted out of the courtroom.

Simon is accused of shooting another man in the neck on the SUNY Morrisville campus on November 3 of last year, leading to a temporary shutdown of the campus. The 20-year-old victim was not a student at the school and survived the incident. Simon, who was arrested in Florida and brought back to New York in June, has been charged with:

  • Second-degree attempted murder, a class B violent felony,
  • First-degree assault, a class B violent felony,
  • Second-degree assault, a class D violent felony,
  • First-degree criminal use of a firearm, a Class C violent felony.
  • Two counts of second-degree criminal possession of a weapon, a class C violent felony

Simon is next scheduled to appear in court on October 29 and is currently being held at the Madison County Jail on $1 million bail…
