New Computer-Based Testing Center for state employees opens in Syracuse

ONONDAGA, N.Y. — On Wednesday afternoon, the Department of Civil Service announced the opening of Syracuse’s first Computer-Based Testing Center on the Onondaga Community College campus.

The center is a part of a larger push from the Department of Civil Service to make it easier for state employees to gain access to promotion opportunities and larger career goals. With the new center, state employees can utilize a more accessible testing environment for civil service promotion exams. The center comes equipped with up to 69 testing workstations, with four reasonable accommodation seats across two dedicated testing rooms.

Commissioner for the Department of Civil Service for New York State Timothy Hogues said the testing center is the fourth ribbon cutting in New York State thus far, with plans for a total of 12 centers in the future…
