Central New York’s First Traffic Garden Is Now Open! Here’s Why Families Should Visit

Central New York families have a brand-new place where kids can safely learn the rules of the road before navigating real traffic.

The region’s first-ever Traffic Garden has officially opened at Santaro Park in the Town of Onondaga. Designed as an interactive outdoor classroom, the space allows children to practice walking, biking and understanding traffic signs in a realistic, but completely safe, environment.

What Is a Traffic Garden?

Unlike a traditional playground, a Traffic Garden is built to resemble a miniature roadway.
