Flash flooding threat ends overnight then dangerous heat later this week

SYRACUSE, N.Y. — As we’ve been including in our forecast since the start of the weekend slow-moving, repetitive, pouring rainfall would be impacting parts of CNY Sunday and Sunday night.

The National Weather Service has issued flood watches for the counties shaded in dark green until 2 a.m. Monday.

Here are the LATEST weather alerts including warnings and advisories:

There continues to be the potential for flash flooding type rainfall now through the late night hours of Sunday. The best locations to see this would be in the yellow shaded areas of the map including Syracuse Rome, Oswego, Auburn to Cortland and Ithaca. Flash flooding may also occur but to a lesser extent for Utica, Hamilton, Norwich and Marathon.

The system responsible for all the humidity, rainfall and cloud cover is a low-pressure system that’s slow in motion therefore keeping these weather conditions lasting much longer than many would like to see.

Beyond Monday and Tuesday’s improved forecast, the remainder of the week will be very hot and very humid. It will be so hot in fact I believe heat advisories could be issued for a few days where the feels like temperature could be anywhere between 90 and 96 degrees outside!
