Man arrested on assault charges in Sennett

SENNETT, NY — A Baldwinsville man has been arrested on charges he threw toilet water at jail deputies and threatened them with a broken meal tray while incarcerated at the Cayuga County Jail.

David M. O’Brien, 53, of Baldwinsville, was arrested Aug. 21, 2026, and charged with three counts of aggravated harassment of an employee by an inmate and menacing in the third degree, according to Cayuga County Sheriff Brian Schenck.

On July 22, 2026, while incarcerated in the Cayuga County Jail, O’Brien became disruptive and used a cup to throw toilet water contaminated with urine at jail deputies, striking multiple deputies with the liquid, according to the sheriff’s office…
