Syracuse, N.Y. — Customers will have to wait a little longer to shop in Aunt Rhonda’s new grocery store.
After originally hoping for a May 2026 opening, the project team bringing the Super Imperial Market to the Valley Plaza on South Salina Street said the new target for opening is the spring of 2027.
When work is complete, the $2.1 million store will open in a 22,000-square-foot portion of the former Tops supermarket, which closed in 2018. Two years later, neighborhood resident Rhonda Vesey, known by many in the area as Aunt Rhonda, launched a grassroots campaign to bring a store back into the space.
