Judge pulls ex-Syracuse Firefighter’s court dates pending indictment or deal in rape case

SYRACUSE, N.Y. — Court proceedings continued for a former Syracuse Firefighter accused of raping a child on Tuesday.

Judge Gordon Cuffy removed Warters’ upcoming court dates from the calendar until a grand jury indicts him or the prosecution and defense reach an agreement.

The Onondaga County Sheriff’s Office charged Warters, 25, with two counts of rape in the third degree on July 28. He is also facing a count of endangering the welfare of a child, a misdemeanor. He was held at the Onondaga County Justice Center before posting bail…
