Woman sentenced for transporting drugs to sell in Schenectady

SCHENECTADY, N.Y. (NEWS10) — A woman was sentenced to prison on September 22 after being accused of trying to drive from Syracuse to Schenectady to sell illegal drugs. 28-year-old Lesly Kantarevic received five years in prison and two years of post-release supervision.

The incident took place on April 27, at about 9 p.m. in Glenville, when New York State Police conducted a traffic stop of a vehicle. Kantarevic was the front seat passenger in the car that had three other people in it.

Troopers observed a clear vacuum sealed bag with drugs inside the vehicle with Kantarevic. They were in packaging and of a large quantity consistent with intended sale and distribution, according to the Schenectady County District Attorney’s Office.

Troopers determined that she was traveling from her home in Syracuse to Schenectady to sell and distribute the illegal drugs in Schenectady. Kantarevic was charged with knowingly and unlawfully possessing about 336 grams of cocaine and 28.9 grams of methamphetamine, both controlled substances.
