Central NY school police officer resigns after he left gun in school restroom

Nedrow, N.Y. ― An Onondaga Central School District resource officer has resigned after he left his duty belt and firearm in a school restroom, police said. On Jan. 18, Robert Wicks – an SRO at Wheeler Elementary at 4543 S. Onondaga Rd – was changing into civilian clothes in a staff restroom when he removed his duty belt and left it behind, Marcellus Police Chief Bernie Podsiedlik said Monday. Wicks’ firearm was in his duty belt, he said.
