2-Car Motor Vehicle Accident Verona NY

According to Oneida County Sheriff Robert Maciol, a 22-year-old male was injured in a two-car motor vehicle accident at the intersection of Rome New London Road and State Route 49 in the Town of Verona.
On January 27th, 2024 at about 6:45 pm, Deputies responded to the intersection of State Route 49 and Rome New London Road in the Town of Verona for a report of a motor vehicle accident. Subsequent to an investigation, Deputies determined that Kevin Heberle, age 46, was operating a 2022 Ford SUV on State Route 49 in the Town of Verona, and while Heberle was attempting to make a left-hand turn onto Rome New London Road, Heberle failed to yield the right of way at a stop sign to oncoming traffic. Due to Heberle failing to yield the right of way, Heberle pulled in front of a 2017 Subaru being operated by 21-year-old Stefan Gherasoiu, resulting in a collision with heavy damage to both vehicles. Heberle was traveling with 22-year-old passenger, Logan Plizga, who was transported to Rome Health by AMCARE Ambulance to be evaluated. Gherasoiu and his 22-year-old passenger, Leandra Paul, were evaluated at the scene and were not transported to the hospital. The injuries appeared to be non-life threatening.
Heberle was issued a traffic citation returnable to the Verona Town Court on a later date.
The Sheriff’s Office was assisted by AMCARE Ambulance and The Town of Verona Fire Department.
