Remember, local outcry prompted state to revamp DeWitt-Fayetteville ramps (Your Letters)

I found Paul Martellock’s Jan. 29, 2034, letter “DeWitt-Fayetteville exit From the new I-81 is a ‘disaster In planning’ ” amusing and ironic. When the New York state Department of Transportation released the Preliminary Draft Environmental Impact Statement in 2019, there was no mention of work on that exit, just as there had been no mention of that in the scoping report or the I-81 Corridor Study (all of which are available to the general public on NYSDOT’s project website). The only reason Interstate 481 was mentioned at all was because it would need to be upgraded to handle traffic not stopping in Syracuse if the viaduct were replaced with a boulevard/community grid.
