Plans to build optometry school in place of Syracuse public housing on hold after public reacts

The Syracuse Housing Authority has paused talks with SUNY Upstate Medical University about building an optometry school in place of public housing. Syracuse.com The Post-Standard reported Tuesday that the two were discussing a deal that would allow the hospital to build an 8-story eye doctor school where 92 units of public housing are slated to be torn down near Interstate 81.
