Town supervisor in Onondaga County didn’t sign his oath of office, and now he’s out

Van Buren Town Supervisor Rick Zaccaria, appointed to the job last summer and then elected in November, is out of a job on a technicality. Zaccaria never signed the oath of office within the required 30-day limit, as is required of elected officials by state law. The oath of office must be taken verbally and also signed. If it’s not, the position becomes vacant.
