Surveillance video likely shows Syracuse woman’s last moments alive

Surveillance video obtained by a Syracuse television station is believed to show the last time Joselyn Toaquiza was seen alive. She was seen with 21-year-old Jhon Moises Chacaguasay-Ilbis at an Airbnb in Syracuse for her 21st birthday. Hours later, censored video shows the Spring Valley man carrying her out of the home. It’s blurred because it is not known if she was alive at the time. Chacaguasay-Ilbis, of Spring Valley, has now been charged with her murder. In the criminal complaint, it says he allegedly strangled the woman before hiding her body in a wooded area. Syracuse Police provided News 12 with its investigation timeline:

“June 19, 2024, around 12:10 a.m.: Syracuse Police Officers responded to 916 Hawley Ave. regarding a missing person complaint. A missing person investigation regarding Joselyn Toaquiza, DOB 6/18/2003, was initiated by the Syracuse Police Department. As the investigation progressed, the Syracuse Police Department’s Criminal Investigations Division became involved.
