Will Auburn’s Freshmen Receivers Make Instant Impacts?

Auburn’s 2024 freshman class will be pivotal to the Tigers’ success.

There will be no introductory period for Auburn’s freshmen receivers. There cannot be, at least not if the Tigers are to have a good 2024 season.

It’s not fair but neither is college football. Auburn needs the freshmen receivers to play – as Hugh Freeze continues to mention when speaking with the media – because there’s no returning go-to receiver and not enough receiver depth. Here’s a look at last season’s offensive statistics followed by a breakdown of Auburn’s four receiver recruits.

Auburn’s 2023 offense is one many Tigers fans would like to move on from and forget. According to CFB Stats, Auburn’s 2023 national statistics leave much to be desired with 26.2 points per game (72nd nationally), 189 yards rushing (24th), and 351.2 yards of total offense (92nd). The rushing total shows promise but the other two statistics are truly concerning.

Then there’s the passing attack. Only four FBS programs would had a lower per-game passing total than Auburn – Minnesota, Rutgers, Nebraska, and Iowa – during Freeze’s first year on the Plains. Auburn’s passing total of 162.2 yards per game (124th) would be why the freshmen wide receivers should all have good first seasons.
