Upstate Hospital’s Mammography Van to visit Utica

UTICA, NY (WUTR/WFXV/WPNY) — Upstate Medical Hospital in Syracuse will host two events in the City of Utica over the next month to promote women’s health.

The hospital’s mammography van will be holding two different events through a partnership with the Oneida County Health Department and Mohawk Valley Health System. They will be held at:

  • 50 Forward Mohawk Valley at the Parkway Center at 220 Memorial Parkway in Utica on Monday, August 26 from 10 am to 4 pm, and
  • the Deerfield Fire Department on 5476 Trenton Road in Utica on Thursday, September 19 from 10 am to 4 pm.

The program was started through New York State’s “Get Screened, No Excuses” initiative. The program’s aim is to get rid of the obstacles to breast cancer screening for women in New York State.

The van is equipped with a state-of-the-art screening system and private exam rooms.

To be eligible for the screenings, women must be 40 years old and older. They must not have had a mammogram in the last 12 months, and must not be experiencing breast problems. Appointments are recommended and are still available. If you wish to make an appointment, you are encouraged to contact the hospital at 315-464-2588 or contact Wendy Hunt at 315-492-3353 for more information.
