Syracuse readies for new recycling bin rollout

SYRACUSE, N.Y. – The Syracuse Department of Public Works held a meeting Tuesday to discuss the rollout of the city’s new recycling bin program. At the meeting, members discussed the reasons for the new bins, which were threefold. First, the Department of Public Works says safety of sanitation workers is paramount. It also says the new bins will improve recycling collection services. Lastly, neighborhood cleanliness was cited as a reason for the bins, with the department saying items that used to be left outside in the rain or wind can now be safely placed inside a closing bin.
