Memphis mom ‘attacks son with a screwdriver’ after picking him up from school

A Memphis mother is facing child abuse charges after terrorizing her son as she picked him up from school.

Miriam Castillo, 44, was charged with aggravated child abuse , and misdemeanor domestic assaultafter police say she tried to push her son out of a moving car and stabbed him with a screwdriver , according to Shelby County court records.

The boy told police that on Tuesday afternoon his mother was driving recklessly after she picked him up from Hickory Ridge Middle School, even trying to push him out of the car while she was on her way to pick up her daughter from a local elementary school, Law & Crime reported.

At one point the boy called his father, who told him to take the keys out of the ignition when the car came to a stop. The boy said when he attempted to grab the keys his mother bit him on his hand and arm and stabbed him in the leg with a screwdriver, according to police.
