I-690 pile-up caused by 7 cars crashing as one tried to avoid disabled car

Syracuse, N.Y. — Seven vehicles crashed on Interstate 690 in Syracuse Sunday night after a driver slammed on the brakes to avoid hitting a disabled car, police said. Around 7:41 p.m., a 2022 Toyota was driving east on I-690 when the driver tried to avoid crashing into the disabled vehicle on the side of the highway, Kieran Coffey, a city police spokesperson, said Monday.
