Retired Onondaga County Sheriff’s Lt. killed in motorcycle accident on 81

OSWEGO COUNTY, N.Y. (WSYR-TV) — CNY has lost another member of its law enforcement family.

Retired Onondaga County Sheriff’s Lieutenant, Curtis Dailey, was killed during a motorcycle accident.

Just before 5:30 p.m. on Sept. 30, New York State Police were sent to 81 southbound, in the Town of Richland.

At the scene, they learned that the 67-year-old was headed south on 81 when he lost control of his motorcycle and went off the west shoulder, hitting a guardrail.

State Police say Dailey was pronounced dead at the scene.

Dailey retired from the force in 2015. He began his career in 1980 as a dispatcher, and in 1984 he joined as a deputy. He eventually worked his way up to road patrol watch commander and earned several honors and awards during his career.
