Syracuse launches new crisis intervention program with Helio Health

SYRACUSE, N.Y. – The City of Syracuse and Helio Health announced a new approach to help those in the city who are in crisis on Tuesday, October 1. The new approach, called the Syracuse Crisis Intervention and Prevention Program or “SCIPP” (skip) for short adds new help at the 911 center so the dispatchers can help to triage the call. It has been developed specifically to support and engage with those experiencing a substance use or mental health crisis by providing effective crisis prevention, response, and intervention services in the community. The program is funded by opioid settlement money.
