CNY Inspirations: Choose joy as an act of resistance

Every day I make a conscious decision to put on the armor of joy. In the chaos of balancing work, family and life’s unpredictable interruptions, this can be difficult – especially when all I crave is a moment of peace, or simply a 20-minute nap. Life has a way of intruding, derailing our plans, and adding to our frustrations. Yet, instead of letting these moments pile up, I try to meet each one as new – free from the emotional baggage of the past. This isn’t easy, because we naturally hold onto memories of past hurt to protect ourselves so we won’t repeat them. But there’s incredible power in choosing to begin again, in seeing each moment as a fresh start.
