BALDWINSVILLE, N.Y. (WSYR-TV) — Palmer Elementary School Principal Alex Ewing climbed the school’s ladder up to the roof promptly at 5 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 24, to get ready for bed. Up there waiting for him was a Bass Pro tent, sleeping bag, and other camping equipment.

Why was Principal Ewing spending the night on the roof? He promised his students that if they met the fundraising goal for their annual Fun Run he would sleep on the roof.
Well, they crushed that goal.
“Every year, the PTA sets a goal as far as the fundraising is concerned and comes up with some crazy idea for me to participate to build excitement from the student body and school community,” Principal Ewing said.
The goal was $15,000. The students and their families raised over $18,000.
