LIVERPOOL, N.Y. (WSYR-TV) — The co-owner of Shining Stars Day Care in Liverpool is speaking out after two of her employees were arrested within days of each other.
Two Shining Stars Day Care workers arrested for alleged abuse
“She handled a child inappropriately, in no way did she hit him, spank him, nothing like that. She just handled him inappropriately,” said Stella Penizotto, co-owner of Shining Stars Daycare in Liverpool.
On October 21, deputies with the Onondaga County Sheriff’s Office arrested 23-year-old Khadija Abukar of Syracuse. She was charged with endangering the welfare of a child and second-degree harassment.
The mother of a 4-year-old boy who attended Pre-K at Shining Stars told NewsChannel 9, Abukar threw her son onto the floor, dragging him across the room on his face and belly. As a result, her son suffered a busted lip and a bruised eye. However, Penizotto says that’s not true.
“I can tell you there were no injuries,” said Penizotto.
