SYRACUSE, N.Y. (WSYR-TV) — Syracuse Hancock International Airport hosted its annual Wings for All, a hands-on program to enhance air travel for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
Wings for All is a collaborative program between SSRA, Arc of Onondaga, and United Airlines focusing on alleviating the stress and anxiety that these individuals and their families may face when they want to travel on a plane.
The program welcomed 22 participants and their families to a dress rehearsal designed to familiarize them with the airport experience.

Participants got to see what it’s like to travel via aircraft by parking, checking in for their flight, passing through TSA security, navigating the terminal, and boarding an aircraft. Although the engine was off, these families got to experience snack and beverage service, giving them a taste of the air.
