Local baker struggles with rising grocery prices amid inflation

SYRACUSE, N.Y. (WSYR-TV) — Inflation continues to impact businesses across Central New York, and for one small baking company, the cost of eggs and butter has become a daily challenge.

Kimberly Westcott, the owner of Made from Scratch, a home-based bakery, relies heavily on eggs and butter for her cookies, cinnamon buns, and brownies.

As egg prices have more than doubled, along with other expenses she uses to bake, she’s had to make some tough decisions to keep her businesses running. As of January 2025, Westcott had to raise her prices by about 25 cents just to stay afloat…
